We chanced upon this small stall in the Student Union (SU) Building at the University of the Philippines Los Banos (UPLB) when we went there to join the Centennial Celebrations. The Herb Republic booth sells herbs and vegetables which they harvest directly from their small farm in a nearby baranggay. Their slogan is “From Seed to Table”.
Among the products they sell are Xanadu variety organic lettuce – at P90 per kilo, “green” – no antibiotics free-range dressed chicken – at P140 per kilo and a variety of herbs. We bought three kinds of herbs (stevia, lavender and spinach) for P100 only.

We would have visited the farm where the herbs are grown but we were pressed for time. We will definitely visit them soon though.
The Herb Republic Farm is located in the Llanera Compound, National Highway, Maahas, Los Banos, Laguna. Telephone Numbers: 843- HERB04/ 049 8274407/ Email Address: info@herbrepublic.biz/ Website: www.herbrepublic.biz

Ed,
We drove all the way to Mangahas, Los Banos 2 weekends ago (while you were in Sorsogon) to pay Herb Republic a visit and found an interesting organic resto in that side of town. Inside a native kubo, we tried their roasted rosemary chicken, crispy stuffed tofu, meat sauce pasta, and mint watermelon cooler. Four green thumbs up.
In Bacolod 1 weekend ago, I dined at Sweet Greens along Lacson (you might have seen this already in one of your visits) that had an “organic foods” sign in front and fresh (organic I suppose) veggies for sale. This resto boasts of “old family recipes” and I like their “Inasal Wrap” and will try their “Bangrus Sang Negros” and lechon stuff in my (our) next visit.
On the following day, I lunched at the Organic Market’s, what else– organic resto behind the Provincial Capitol (you’ve seen this right?) and for only P72 I had brown rice, 2 sinugbang isda, “lutik” (squash with a bit of malunggay), and a generous serving of a very fruity halo-halo (avocado, banana and papaya sans the nata, sago, kaong etc). Burp!
And finally yesterday I chanced upon a petite food stall named Organic Express – Salad Bar and Quick Meals inside 888 Chinatown Square also in this city. Daring I guess doing business side-by-side with the more popular food brands inside the mall (veggie salad while malling?). Their Kape Organiko sells at P15. I like their chicken sandwich. The store’s owned by the Penalosa Farms in Victorias City and their products carry the Monchito’s brand.

wow pareng yani. you have been to more organic food joints than me. we visited herb republic just this weekend and we enjoyed the food as well. i will post the experience soon.
if you have photos of those establishments that you’ve visited including their yummy offerings then we can post them here. most fastfoods will only give us health problems. as you described in your “organic” foodtrip, safe and healthy food is not boring at all. burp!!

hi Jhoey, maraming salamat. just getting off the ground pa lang after a long hiatus from blogging (i have been busy with so many other concerns). your site (www.pinoyorganics.com) and (www.pinoygreenacademy.com) of dennis are my inspiration – i linked your respective sites to this site if you don’t mind. i hope we can push our common advocacy of doing what is best for our environment (for the sake of our children and the generation to come). go, go, go.

It’s great you were able to go to the Centennial Celebrations! got the text as well but it was just too far : ). We need to see more of these farmers around especially to drive down the prices of dressed chicken. The lowest I could get is P200 here in Manila.
